SKIING CORN AT WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN
When I got off work today I really didn’t want to ski. I won’t dive in to it in this post (stay tuned for that on Sunday), but I’ve got a lot going on in my life right now that is requiring a lot of my time and energy. Anyways, Wild Bill told me the mountain was ‘sensational’ and that I needed to be there, so I decided to follow his advice and go. He was right. It was great!
Riding the Summit Quad this afternoon.
I’m not going to lie, I was in a pretty bad mood when I got to Whiteface, but I felt much better after a few runs. Skiing always makes me feel better when I’m feeling down. It’s the perfect way to relieve stress.

The sun was out today and it wasn’t too cold on the mountain. Conditions were great from mid-mountain and up. In the shade, the ski surface was firm, in the sun there was packed powder and corn snow. Down below mid-mountain it was pretty sloppy. My legs still aren’t in ski shape from missing six weeks of skiing due to injury, so the sloppy snow down low was pretty tiring.

Upper Skyward, Lower Skyward, Upper Northway, Essex and Upper Thruway were all fantastic today. Of those, Upper and Lower Skyward probably had the best conditions. Today was actually my first time skiing Lower Skyward since I returned to skiing last week so it was great to get back on the run.

A winter storm is moving through the area this weekend. This storm could have a little bit of everything so trying to find the right place to ski will be a balance of snowfall and expected precipitation throughout the day. For that reason, I’m planing to ski at Jay Peak tomorrow because it looks like it has the best chance at staying all snow. There is a chance I could end up at Stowe, though, mainly because I have two Epic day passes I need to use.
Never Quit Skiing,
